NADA reports that no more than 17 percent of the positions in dealerships are filled by women.

It’s important to recognize that women are critical members of every dealership team. Only 1 percent of service techs out there are females, and only 6 percent of service managers are females. When it comes to advisors, those stats are a little better but still not great, 17 percent of females fill the advisor role.

Female workers can say things to female shoppers and achieve a higher level of identification than if a man said the same thing, because generally speaking, women look at a vehicle with different needs in mind.

So recruit to attract females! Consider using “Why work for us” video that show a family atmosphere, helpfulness and opportunities for professional development. Use the right language on job postings. Keywords like dependable, social and likable are attractive words to females.

Industry has made strides for women, but it’s important to do more. People don’t want to work for a company when they look to the top and don’t see anyone that looks like them.
